Circuses are "fun"? Only for the humans who watch them.

A necessary counterpoint to all the saccharine, human-focused play about one circus closing & how "sad" that is:

It seems far sadder - and a great deal more important than our feelings - that circus animals are denied a life free from exploitation, isolation, misery, and fear. Here's "sad": animals made to perform in circuses are routinely isolated from their own kind, then beaten down and frightened into learning ridiculous routines that they would never perform in real life, to "delight audiences".

Your actions in saying, "I will not support entertainment that degrades animals", and in supporting groups such as the one listed at the bottom of this page can help to make a real difference in the perceptions of others around you.

Sad about the "entertainer families" who have worked in circus for years? Let's work exactly as hard as we've done for EVERY other working group that has lost jobs due to economic change, to automation, to changing perceptions about right & wrong, entertainment and exploitation. Directly or indirectly, ""circus families" have lived off the broken backs of the animals they exploit long enough.

How can you help change things? You can visit the link below. Educate yourself. Picture your own pet being abused like circus animals are abused. Then help to STOP it.
