What Can I Do About the Stray or Feral Cats Near My Home?

Many of our clients are concerned about the welfare of stray or feral cats in their neighborhood.  If you have questions about a stray or feral cat in your area, please contact your local police department's non-emergency number first.  Most villages will put you in contact with your local animal control center.  If an animal control center is unavailable to help, there are a few options listed below.

Visit the website of PACT Humane Society, at www.pacthumanesociety.org.  PACT is a local, no-kill animal shelter that has links to stray and feral cat policies, as well as adoption information and ways that you can take steps to help the cats in need.

To help reduce the number of unwanted litters born each year, lovethatcat.com has listed numerous low cost or free spay and neuter programs within Illinois and the United States.  Click here to view their listings of Illinois programs.

Lastly, if you do not live in an area that offers a low cost spay and neuter program, you can contact SPAY/USA by calling their toll-free number 800-248-SPAY, or by visiting their website www.spayusa.org to complete an online form, and they will put you in contact with the nearest clinic that will meet your needs.
