Pet Food Recall

Help Us Find Chingy!
June 2007 Newsletter Highlight

I promised all of you a lighter topic for my next column right before the pet food recall hit Chicagoland, and here it finally is.  As you may know, all of us who work at Knollwood are a talented bunch - but I bet you didn't realize exactly how versatile and diverse our talents are!  Can you figure out who is who at Knollwood, from the descriptions below?  Each short description represents a current or past talent of a Knollwood Hospital for Pets staff member - including our Doctors.  Answers will appear next month in this column.

A soon-to-be-published comic book author and talented artist who does wonderful cartoon portraits of pets - she's working on one of Lizzie right now!

Sultry-voiced (and multiple award-winning) karaoke singer - her rendition of "Black Velvet" will knock your socks off.

Higher mathematics whiz, plans to become a high school math teacher.

This former "motorcycle mama" is able to heft a handful of loose change and tell you the total dollar amount - and she's always correct, right to the penny!

Has raised over 500 abandoned baby kitties and plans to become a veterinarian.

Talented seamstress who sewed her own wedding dress and once worked with the dolphins at Epcot Center.

Owner of one of those big ugly rodeo belts with her name hand-tooled on the back and a buckle the size of a dinner plate - and she actually earned it, in stunt barrel-racing.

Is that a real diamond, or did your honey get you a big ol' fake?  This Knollwood staff member can expertly evaluate it and tell you!

Wraps presents so beautifully, you'd think she was coached by Martha Stewart.  She thought she might make it a career, then decided that training for veterinary medicine made more sense.

One memorable past job for this Knollwood staff member involved catching and "milking" copperhead snakes for their venom once a week, for a heart-pounding 10 months.  She says it wasn't her worst job, though...

Back home, was lead vocalist for a punk-rock band - and her mother was her vocal coach! Still plays the piano and guitar.

Makes the best Greek food in the world, and is a fool for going fishing whenever possible.  Don't get her started on telling you about the latest big fish she caught.

An absolute computer whiz, this Knollwood staff member knows how to find anything on-line, from the best way to get downtown on a given day to how to cook lobsters painlessly (for the lobster).

Started her own newspaper while in grade school and got it published and distributed. Volunteered at Pet Rescue before joining our staff.

A remarkable horsewoman, she owned a herd of horses and took one to the Wisconsin State Quarterhorse Championships - and won!

This confirmed vegan makes the best no-egg, no-dairy lemon pie you ever tasted.  She also is one of our bunny care experts.

Betcha can't figure them all out....
