These are the people who keep Knollwood running!
Our Office Manager and Receptionists (Pictured L-R: Michelle, Chani) |
 |
Michelle and Chani are
the first friendly faces you'll meet when you walk into our
clinic. This Knollwood team, supervised by Michelle, are
also the caring voices you'll hear when you call to make your
appointment. Our front desk staff are not only supremely talented
and well-trained, but also courteous, attentive, and
hospitable. Whether you need a
cup of calming herbal tea and a cookie upon arrival, or your pet
needs a cool drink, they'll take care of
you! With our computerized
system, they can also give you any pertinent information about your
pet with a minute's notice. They can track any allergies that your
pet has, or any special requests or needs that a patient has when
they come in for a visit. Call our front desk staff to make your
appointment today! If you have a medical question, a member of our
staff may have to put you on hold briefly so that you may speak
to a Nurse... |
Nurses and Nurse Assistants
(Pictured L-R: Tina, Nikki) |
 |
Nikki and Tina are just as accommodating and helpful as our front desk staff! They are always available to assist the Doctors while caring for your pet. They're also available for any questions that you may have. Speaking with one of our Nurses is always the fastest way to get an answer from a Doctor. Nikki is our resident expert when it comes to answering questions about raising baby kittens. Tina is bilingual and fluent in Mandarin.
When you and your pet come in for a visit, a Nurse will be the first person in the room with you. The Nurse will collect pertinent information from you, such as medications, diet, allergies, temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and body condition. A Nurse can also sit down with you to discuss all of the needs of a new puppy or kitten, so you can be sure that you're doing everything possible as a new pet owner. As with every member of our staff, our Nurses attend continuing education classes, so you can always be sure that you are getting the latest, most up-to-date information. You can make an appointment with one of our Nurses to learn the proper techniques for ear cleaning, dental home care, and anal gland expression for your pet. Call today to make an appointment for a demonstration!
Jennifer, our NA (picture coming soon!), is responsible for making sure that your Doctor and Nurses see you in a timely and efficient manner, that your charges are correct, that you receive all the care and medications you need, and that all medications are packaged and labeled safely and correctly. She is available to help you and your pet to and from your vehicle if you have an ill pet that requires assistance - or if you're trying to handle a rambunctious dog and get the baby settled in your car! |
Hospital Assistants (Pictured: Ashley L.) |
 |
The HAs at Knollwood Hospital for Pets are the high school and college student staff members who assist our Nurses and who help maintain our hospital in a clean and sanitary condition. Some of our HAs work to gain the hands-on learning experience that they need to successfully compete for a position in one of the 32 Colleges of Veterinary Medicine that exist in the United States and Canada. (Just for perspective, it is much easier to be accepted into one of the hundreds of medical schools available than it is to gain admission into a college of veterinary medicine!) Others work because they just plain love working with animals. Ashley L. and Ashley J. (picture coming soon!) are crucial members of the Knollwood Hospital for Pets team; they are a tremendous help in so many areas of our hospital. |

Our relief staff consists of experienced and fully-trained employees that we are fortunate to have waiting in the wings when the need arises. Katie is a valuable member of the Knollwood Hospital for Pets family with many years of experience, and as much as we would love to have her on our full-time team, we appreciate any amount of time and talent that she can give us. Katie will be assisting our Nursing team full time this summer, prior to beginning her postgraduate studies in veterinary medicine.
She is a true example of the importance of quality over quantity! Katie recently acheived the distinction of being accepted to not just one, but THREE Colleges of Veterinary Medicine - the University of Illinois, University of Minnesota and Madison-Wisconsin. She will begin her studies in veterinary medicine in fall 2008, at Illinois. |
Knollwood Volunteers (Pictured L-R: Doris, Tami) |
 |
"Volunteers don't necessarily
have the time, but they have the heart." - Anonymous This is true of our Knollwood
volunteers, Doris and Tami. They come in because they truly
enjoy working with animals, and because they are very passionate
about doing it. Their duties can include everyday tasks, such
as cleaning or filing, but are certainly not limited to that.
Our volunteers can also be found sitting with your pets after
procedures or surgeries, so that your pet has a soothing voice and
a loving hand to keep him or her company. In addition to
their on-going help at the clinic, Doris is our resident expert on
ferret care, and Tami can tell you anything you need to know about
pet rabbit care - feel free to call them with your questions.
Knollwood Hospital for Pets thanks these unselfish, giving people
for not only giving their time and service to us, but for giving
their love and compassion to our furry friends! |

Kelly (pictured with one of her three feline consultants) works from home as our Webmistress. Kelly has designed, developed, and maintained our website from Day 1, and she is the one who keeps it up-to-date and running smoothly - even during her recent move to Champaign, Illinois! Fortunately for us, being a Webmistress means she can live anywhere, so long as she has her trusty computer handy. Kelly receives your pet photos, stories, memorials, and ideas for our "Lizzie Says..." column, and makes them a reality on our web pages. She also coordinates the web-based side of our consultation coordination process for the requests Dr. Mitchell receives from area veterinarians and their clients, for holistic evaluation. If you have any new ideas, suggestions for improvement, or have any recommendations for the "Our Favorite Things" pages, contact Kelly at postmaster@knollwoodhospitalforpets.com. |
