November 2005 - What Does Lizzie Say?

Lizzie read an article in The New England Journal of Medicine, on how taking medication to achieve weight loss doesn't work as well as when lifestyle modification is added to the weight loss program.

Lizzie says: Silly humans! Even a dog knows that we have to get our furry butts off the rug and exercise a little each day if we want to lose weight! If your feline or canine companion is more than pleasingly plump, here's what you should do: First, talk to your vet about the need for an exam and a blood test to determine if there is an underlying reason why your little snookums is chubby. Your vet can tell you about weight loss foods and can also recommend a daily exercise program to rev up that sleepy metabolism and help you lose those love handles!
