Wellness Examinations
Our focus at Knollwood is preventative care and wellness examinations. We provide complete, expert medical examinations, focused on teaching you what you need to know and to do, to keep your pet as healthy as possible. However, if you need help with ANY medical problem, rest assured that we can - and will - deal with it in a prompt, professional manner. Our Doctors maintain the highest level of continuing education possible, completing literally hundreds of hours of training at advanced medical and surgical seminars each year. And, since they often lecture at these same seminars, you know you'll always get the latest and best information on how to resolve your pet's medical issues!

Medical Diagnostics
We are problem solvers!  Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Kismartoni are experts at resolving even tricky medical dilemmas. Whether your pet needs basic or advanced diagnostics to identify what is wrong, we can help. We can perform many diagnostic procedures right here in our hospital, from identifying what exactly that mysterious new lump on your cat is, to performing x-rays and running blood and urine tests. We also utilize the finest medical laboratories in the area, to insure fast, accurate results. Our Doctors work closely with specialists in all areas of veterinary medicine, including cardiologists (heart), dental specialists, dermatologists (skin), imaging specialists (ultrasound, MRI, CAT scans), orthopedic surgeons (bones and joints), oncologists (cancer), and ophthalmologists (eyes).

Vaccinations
You may be over-vaccinating! Today's watchword on vaccinations is "individualized." That means that we tailor vaccine protocols to your pet's specific needs, after a careful discussion with you about the risks your pet faces.  We'll explain what your pet needs - and what your pet doesn't need - and why. We'll also tell you about today's alternatives to yearly vaccines. All of our staff are up to date on the newest vaccine recommendations.  And these aren't just our ideas - they represent input from major veterinary groups such as the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Feline Practitioners, and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.  All of these groups have published statements attesting to the need to be cautious about vaccines.

Clinical Nutrition
At Knollwood Hospital for Pets, we believe that your pet's diet is an important basic element in a preventative medical approach. No amount of supplementation or medication will correct a bad diet! If you're feeding just a dry kibbled diet or a canned diet, your pet is NOT getting all the important nutrients necessary to maintain vibrant good health. We offer in-hospital nutrition consultations for well pets of existing clients. During your half-hour consultation, we'll review the adequacy of what your pet is currently eating. Then we'll discuss whether fresh food additions, digestive enzyme supplementation or probiotic and vitamin supplementation are indicated for your pet. Just call to schedule your appointment with Nurse Jill -- she'll be glad to help!

Our Nurses all have a special interest in raw food diets, too - so if you'd like to schedule time to discuss the benefits that a fresh-frozen raw diet can offer your well pet, don't hesitate to call Nikki or Jill.  They'll tell you all about raw diet and how to gradually incorporate them into your pet's diet.  And, if you're interetsed in getting started right away, they can even give you a free sample of the Nature's Variety Diets available here at the hospital.  These free Nurse consultations and free samples are for existing Knollwood clients only.

Microchipping
It's a sad fact that over 85% of straying pets are recovered without any collar or tag identification. You can maximize the opportunity to be reunited with your pet by calling for a microchipping appointment. A microchip provides permanent, lifetime identification that can never be lost. The microchip - about the size of a grain of rice - can be easily implanted into the skin between the shoulder blades by one of our trained Veterinary Nurses. For under $50, you can provide your pet with safe lifetime protection that can never be lost!
