Nurse Assistant - This position has been filled! Part time. The NA is a multitasker whose primary responsibility is to assist the Nurse. General duties include ‑ but are not limited to – preparing lab paperwork, assisting Nurses with in-hospital treatments and procedures, caring for hospitalized and post-surgical patients, and recording patient data in the exam room. Surgical Nurse Assistant - This position has been filled! Part time. The primary job of this entry-level position is to assist our Surgical Nurses in the performance of their duties on surgery days. General duties include ‑ but are not limited to – admitting and transporting surgical patients, assisting with pre-surgical labwork, assisting with preparing patients for surgery, washing and sterilizing surgical instruments, preparing surgical equipment packs, and caring for post-surgical patients. Nurse Position - One position has been filled, one is still available! Part-time to full time skilled position; prior small animal hospital experience required; must have reliable transportation; salary based on documented skill level. Technical Duties: - Performing IV and jugular catheterization, intravenous and tube feedings
- Performing induction, monitoring, and documentation of anesthesia
- Performing dental prophylaxes
- Taking, developing, and properly documenting radiographs in a efficient manner
- Anticipating and accommodating the needs and quirks of two Doctors and our Externs
- Performing in-house laboratory tests, including reading simple cytology, UAs, fecals, etc
- Knowing correct medication and fluid dosages for specific weights and species
- Administering medications, treatments, vaccines, or blood products to patients as prescribed by the Doctors
- Assisting Doctors with client education and demonstrations
- Entering charges and using the computers fully and effectively
- Must be able to multi-task quickly and efficiently
Non-Technical (But Crucial) Duties: - Talking scared cats off of the ceiling
- Holding hands, remembering babies’ names, drying tears
- Handling difficult, aggressive, and terrified patients
- Making grouchy clients (or fellow employees) laugh
- An appreciation and respect for the variety of the patients and clients we serve.
